Harper’s Bazaar editors recently compiled their must-have lists for this fall. With a drapey, winter-white dress as the headlining piece, I thought I would put my own spin on the editor’s fall favorites. See below for my own “editor” picks! Enjoy!

Fall’s It Bag: Black & Structured
While many of any upcoming season’s trends and fashions may not be too conventional, this fall’s bags are all that and more. We may see lots of prints and busy outfits however going overboard is not what this season’s bags are about. Black, structured and perfectly acceptable for work and school, all you’ll need to figure out is what to fill it with. (I’m sure us ladies won’t have a problem with that!) Below are my suggestions. Enjoy!

Take a Hint: Mix Prints!
There are many trends out there that at first may seem atrocious and unwearable altogether. Sometimes for me, it takes seeing a controversial trend worn tremendously by someone else for me even to attempt it. One of those trends that is just on the cusp of fashionable versus disastrous for me is mixing prints. When I first saw this on the runway, I wasn’t sure whether the designer was just trying to show all of their designs on one model all at once, or if this was truly the next trend to be born. All I knew was it was going to take a truly audacious fashionista to pull off this look and still look fabulous. However, seeing this trend more frequently has made me turn a new leaf on this idea of mixing prints together. I was seeing girls making it work! All it takes are simple prints that work together – even an unlikely pairing such as florals and animal prints. Just look for colors that mesh well together, add a little confidence and out the door you go! Below are some inspirations mixing prints. Enjoy!

Never An Excuse to be Late
An item that is essential to accessorize all outfits is the wrist watch. Watches have made a big comeback in the past few seasons and they have shown serious staying power. The reason behind the popularity of this old-fashioned, oversized, menswear-inspired piece is because a watch instantly spruces up an outfit. Wrist watches provide mature arm candy in any hardware you want – silver, gold, ceramic or leather strap. Slip on a watch and you instantly professionalize your work attire, glam up a night look or add the only necessary piece of jewelry you need for a casual day. Not to mention wearing a watch will help you brush up on your time-telling skills instead of peeking at your iPhone every 5 minutes! Below are some of my favorite watches, enjoy!
Spotty Trend
Most trends come and go with each new season. However, the animal print trend is one that has had lasting stamina through a few seasons now. It’s a versatile print that can be dressed up or down. My favorite is leopard. You can wear it with jeans or a skirt and the leopard print can be worn on top, bottom, middle or as a layer. I rummaged through my closet to find my favorite leopard clothes that I made into a few outfit ideas for you. See below and leave comments please! 🙂
Both shirts – Forever 21, Jeans – Target, Ring – Asos, Boots – Pac Sun, Belt – Guess?
Top – Mango, Skirt, Heels – Forever 21, Ring – Asos, Necklace – here
(wouldn’t you know! The insides of these shoes are leopard too! Right on trend 😉 )
Scarf & Jeans – Express, T-shirt, jacket, heels – Forever 21

Holler for a Collar
Yes, Honey Boo-Boo Child’s this stylish fall trend can be found around the neck of only the most fashionable. Collar necklaces are the new statement pieces and they are being spotted everywhere! Kim K, Jessica Alba and Kelly Osbourne have donned this neck accessory and you can pull off the look as well. Find a great silver or gold collar necklace and keep the rest of your accessories above the neck very simple; the collar necklace demands all the attention so don’t wear any competing pieces. See some of my favorites below.

Black & Bright!
It’s no mystery that black is a favored color when it comes to clothing. Black goes with everything. Black is flattering and slimming. Black is simple and conventional, yet elegant and timeless. But who’s to say our beloved go-to color doesn’t need a little brightening up sometimes. One of my favorite trends to appear in the fashion world is the bright-with-black trend. It gives an updated look to the usual black ensemble. Below are my own outfits that showcase a little bright with black.

Welcome to the Wild West on Wednesday!
Okay, totally unplanned title but another unforeseen was the western trend flooding fashion blogs today! OpenSky debuted Glamour’s “neo-western” inspired collection (with photo above) that included lots of gold and turquoise jewelry pieces and Rachel Zoe chose her “cow-girl chic” accessory picks in The Zoe Report (some seen below).
(from left to right: Alushia Sanchia Toledo Ring, $140, Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent Berkeley Bag, $475, B Brian Atwood Pallazo Boots, $795)
Both of these blogs shared their ideas of western flair showcasing fringe, cowboy boots, turquoise and lots of denim. Below are some outfit pieces I chose that will make your inner cowgirl come out. Although each of these alone can give fashionistas a taste of the west, I wouldn’t advise wearing them all at once!
