Poppin’ Printed Pants!

There is nothing we need more during the long, cool days of fall than a little pop of fun prints!  And what better, different way to show them off than on our pants.  This fall, printed pants are all the rage and a quirky update to the same old jeans look.  My personal favorites come from Anthropologie (also a personal favorite of mine).  Anthro styles these bottoms just right by letting the pants do all the talking for the outfit, keeping the rest of look understated.

Pretty in Peplum!

A major flare has hit the fashion world and it’s a wonder why it’s taken so long for PEPLUM to make it big!  Peplum looks impressively chic and professional for the office or fun and flirty for a night out. The little bit of extra ruffle around the waist is so flattering, even though hearing those five words “extra ruffle around the waist” would make most women cringe.   Figure-flattering and a great sophisticated update to the normal pencil skirt or plain shell top, peplum has made a strong statement to women’s clothing and will probably be yelling that statement loud and clear for a few more seasons (at least!) to come.

Spiky & Sexy

So many trends and styles nowadays are quite daring and only for those brave enough to be the first to step out wearing them.  The spike phenomenon is no different.  These pointy embellishments have donned sweaters, belts, headbands and most popularly as some heavy-duty arm candy.

While I have to say I am hesitant to try it out, the more I see it the more I’m intrigued and want to try it. There is something so chic yet tough about spikes and worn the correct way they’re much more “fashionista” than “hardcore rocker-biker babe.”

Take caution when wearing these mini weapons but also wear them with pride and don’t be afraid to show a little bad-girl side.

Spikes are bold enough to forgo any other extra accessories at all.  Dress them up dress them down, whatever you do spikes turn any lackluster outfit into an extreme statement!

High Shine!

Bloomingdale’s has showcased a bunch of great Fall trends and the high shine trend is one I’m a huge fan of.  I am a total glitter lover so it’s no surprise I adore this trend!  Metallic, shiny clothing is a great way to add a little glitz to an otherwise darker color palette for the cold seasons.  It is also a fantastic way to heat yourself up with some Miami-nightlife glam in the midst of the cool months.

Buying Guide : Fall ’12 Trends

With the cooler weather really setting in and the first official day of fall this weekend, it’s really about time we hit the stores (or websites, however you may shop) and find the latest and greatest trends for Fall 2012.  I would like to provide all you fashionistas with the latest, chicest choices for your closet this season.  Below are clothing and accessories broken down into their selective trends so that you can pick the ones that appeal most to your style.  Enjoy!

Equestrian Militant – No, not for a day on the back of a horse but a sophisticated and clean look for the super simple, basics-are-my-life fashionista.

Military Equestrain
Rich Glamour – If you plan on walking into the offices of Vogue anytime soon, I suggest following this trend which includes a super rich-color palette with bold accessories that pop.  This look is for someone who is NOT trying to blend in.
Rich Glamour
Embellished Brocade – Over the top?  That doesn’t even begin to explain this look.  Think eccentric Lady Gaga meets elegant Beyonce.   The brocade pattern is nothing new but it’s making a big statement this season by adding embellishment and shine to every piece of clothing and every accessory item it graces.

Building Blocks of Fashion

Color blocking is and has been a major trend in the fashion world as of recent.  I love it because it is so simple yet it shows such elegance and anyone who struts their stuff while rocking (or blocking) this trend just looks so well put together.  You can do it with any color of the rainbow and take it to any extremity you want – whether it be an entire color blocked outfit or just grabbing a color blocked clutch to go with your outfit.  See some examples below as well as my picks for some color blocked accessories.

Pitch Black

Marie Claire recently printed a fashion editorial piece that emphasized the presence of the “gothic” look for the fall.  Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING was black, dark and almost scary.  Starting at the model’s bluntly cut hair and dark pout down to the most intense black shoes – there was not a color to be found. Although a large portion of my closet contains black clothing, I’m not sure the whole gothic look is for me.  What do you think of this colorless photo shoot?

Great Find! Glitter Loafers

Loafers are so in for this fall season so I knew that I had to purchase a pair.  However, when I laid my eyes on these sparkling babies I had to get my hands on them.  Needless to say, I’m a sucker for ANYTHING glitter so these obviously already had a place in my closet.  They are Steve Madden (madden girl) and they go with basically everything.  Who else is getting loafers this season?

Rachel Zoe NYFW Spring 2013 Collection

While I will wait to do a full write-up on all of the fashion shows of New York Fashion Week for Spring 2013, I needed to post about Rachel Zoe’s collection after seeing it today.  All I have to say is it was “totally maj” and she is a born designer!  The 70’s vibe – the flowy pieces, sequins, big floppy hats, cat-eye sunnies and just every perfect piece of her collection made it seem as if Zoe herself was walking down the runway.

The muted pastel colors and black & whites displayed on everything from maxi dresses, minis, suit separates, shorts and jumpsuits gave off a relaxed, fun L.A. feel that will no doubt be seen EVERYWHERE this spring.  I need every piece of the collection ASAP, especially that animal print tuxedo jacket and pant set!  So “amaze” and seriously, how adorable was Rachel when she came out at the end of the show with her new bangs ‘do and glowy overall appearance!  “I died.” Love her!

Fall’s Color Guide

Today was so fall-like I wanted so badly to finally hike on my boots and slip into a cozy peacoat.  Please understand “fall-like” to someone who wants fall to just get here already means it was about 70 degrees and bright sunshine  – no where near the kind of weather appropriate for that kind of attire I’m dying to flaunt.  However all that desire to raid my closet and pile on all my fall pieces made me choose a few key colors for this season.  These hues could be the main event in your outfit or you could pull together some basics and use the colors as accessory pops.  Dress them up or down, whatever you’re feeling!  Below are my picks, enjoy!
