Tis the Season to Shine

When you look around during this time of year, nothing about the holidays are understated.  Everything is lit up, glittering, sparkling and catching your eyes and attention wherever you set your gaze.  Your fashion choices should be no different!  What better excuse than a holiday party, Christmas Eve and New Years Eve, or just because you want to shine along with everything around you, to wear some shimmery, glitzy GOLD!  Adorn yourself with anything gold and you are insta-glam.  The gold trend is the most appropriate look for this time of year (because when else will you look festive and not freakish walking around in your sparkly gold lame dress, black tights and killer heels?  Oh right, never.)  The best part about gold is that you can never over-do it.  Wear that gold mini, stilettos, bangles, oversize necklace- you name it, you can wear it!  Happy Sparkling!

Tory’s Got You Covered for the Holidays

With Thanksgiving creeping up ever so quickly this week and Christmas and other holidays right behind it, what better excuse than now to get a new outfit!  Tory Burch has got her selection of holiday looks and they are definitely some of my favorites this season!  The collection includes gowns, shift dresses, pant suits, evening coats and tunics (to mention just a few) While there are a few options to choose from, Tory does not skip out on this year’s major trends for each of the looks – including peplum, sparkly embellishments and fabulous neutrals.  See below for some of my favorites and start planning your holiday ensemble now!

Get Cozy!

Although we can’t stop the blustery, cold weather from coming, we can bundle up and keep warm this winter with chunky knits.  Soft and cozy is totally in this season – just look at Pinterest during the time of year, if I see that big, white chunky knit blanket one more time I’m going to have to buy it!  Anyway, chunky knits are not just for wearing in the coldest of snowstorms, they are diverse enough that you can dress them up yet still feel that same warm comfort as you do when you’re sitting in front of the fireplace with some hot chocolate.  Choose one piece of your wardrobe and replace it with a knit – because wearing a full outfit of knit will just make you look like crocheting is your one and only hobby.

Collared Dresses

How does my butt look?  Does it hide my problem areas?  Does it show too much cleavage?  Is this the right color for me?

These are usually the questions we ladies ask ourselves when on the hunt for that new perfect dress.  One question that is not usually included in line-up of deciding questions is : How does this collar look?  Collars on dresses?  Absolutely!  The newest day-dress trend is to add a collar to a dress to add a little masculinity and prep to any ordinary dress.  It’s totally a modern day Audrey Hepburn!  To complete the look, add simple pumps, ankle boots or oxfords and don’t forget a great bag – but nothing too flashy, stick with the “less-is-more” idea.

Roughin It With Leather

No longer do we see leather only associated with bikers on Harley’s.  Anyone who knows even the slightest bit about fashion knows that you cannot have a complete wardrobe without some leather!  Those in the know are also aware that leather has transitioned from basic black (although that is most definitely still most popular) to a variety of colors!  You can wear leather for it’s warmth – such as jackets, gloves or boots, or you can wear a leather shell top or skirt and feel instantly slimmer and a bit tougher.  Maybe we haven’t left behind the whole leather-wearing-badass-on-a-bike picture, however we’re making it a much chicer trend these days.

Here are some pieces that I love!
