Marissa Webb Fall 2014

What’s black, white and tweed all over?  Well, that’d be Marissa Webb’s Fall 2014 collection!  This is quite possibly the most versatile collection so far this week.  The perfectly tailored skirts/blazers separates came together to make stunning outfits.  I can see these looks being worn to the corporate office then out for a night on the town.  Webb’s collection was simple, but stunning nonetheless.

Each model displayed a perfectly put-together look complete with easy hair and make-up.  I do have to admit, the few colors trailing at the end seemed a bit out of place in this collection however the pale pink and vibrant red brought just enough pop of color to an almost all black-and-white show.  Overall, I LOVED this collection!

BCBG Max Azria Fall 2014

Comfort is not even the word.  I literally want to take each piece of the Fall 2014 BCBG Max Azria collection, compile it into a huge bed and snuggle up in it until the end of winter.  Max and Lubov sure has me lusting over each and every piece of one of the first collections to walk down the runway this season.

With perfect color-blocked lines and luxurious fur in a dark yet neutral color palette, these models looked like they were ready to walk outside into the blistery cold polar-vortex weather of NYC (in every good way possible that is).  Relaxed layers are shaping up to be one of the popular trends even after just the first day of New York Fashion Week.  And although it is only the first fabulous day of this highly anticipated week, BCBG Max Azria is sure to be a favorite.  It may even have us wishing for next fall/winter – wait more cold weather?  Ugh, fine – only if I get to don one of these fab fur pouches.. or scarves.. or skirts..or coats!

Rachel Zoe, the No-Show

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK BEGINS TODAY!!!  Although I’m excited to see all of the new collections from designers, there is one MAJ designer who is missing from this year’s line-up.  Rachel Zoe, aka my fashion spirit animal!  She has chosen to take more time to spend with her family (understandably – have you seen that adorable new little munchkin!)  and will be absent from the fashion craze in New York this season.  Although I’m a bit saddened by this,  I know that Rachel will come back better than ever next season.  However, she didn’t have to dangle the fashion goodness in front of everyone with this little sketch of what could have been an amazing collection!

How chic!  How stylish!  How perfect!  Rachel, you owe us some MAJ pieces next season!

Zara Simplifies Spring

Zara presented the season’s trends perfectly (as usual) with the release of their Spring 2014 Lookbook.  In true Zara fashion, they managed to touch on each major style trend for spring (fringe, pastels, Hawaiian floral prints, crop tops/midi skirts combo) all while taking a minimalist approach to the whole campaign.  Take a look at the Lookbook images while we all lust over these pieces until they hit our closets.

Be Romantic this Valentine’s Day

No matter what you’re doing this Valentine’s day  – celebrating with your significant other or partying your way through Single’s Awareness Day (hey, look at it this way – you get a whole weekend to hate on those lovey-dovey couples), there is one thing you should include : lace!  There is not other material that exudes romance than  “just-showing-enough-skin” lace.   If you want to go all out (this may be over-doing it) throw in a red piece.   I know I’ll just be adding a red lip, some dainty gold jewelry and some gorge heels.  See below for some perfect lady-like yet   sexy looks that will wow your guy (or a whole room of guys) next weekend.

Time for the Big Game

I’m not a huge sports fan, but I do love a good game!  Tonight is the big football game of the year : the Super Bowl (in my backyard of New Jersey!).  While I’m just excited for the food, commercials and half-time performance, there’s no reason why all of the fashionistas can’t use this event to show off some sporty style.   I’ve chosen some items that are comfortable yet totally chic.  Just try not to take all the attention away from the game with these outfits.  Enjoy!

Menswear-Inspired Pastels for Spring

While the 45 degree weather is a vast improvement from the polar vortex conditions we’ve been facing for the last month, I have to sadly face the facts – spring isn’t going to arrive for a while.  BUT that doesn’t mean that we can’t start preparing for the warmer weather days!

This spring, the ladies are taking a few notes from the men while still staying totally feminine in Easter-egg pastels and soft neutrals.  So, think structured, over-sized and masculine but also light and lady-like.  Wait, what?  Yes it’s happening!  Just see below for some great spring-time outfit inspirations from the boys AND gals.  Battle of the sexes no more!
