Mega-Watt Metallic

There are some things you associate with spring like florals, pastels and breezy clothing.  Metallics, though?  For Spring 2014, designers including Altuzarra(above), Diane von Furstenberg, Zimmerman, Kate Spade and Emilio Pucci, just to name a few, sent shiny golds and silvers down the runway to surprise us all.  While donning a shimmery gold or silver number for New Years seems all too predictable, change it up this year by inserting some jolts of shine into your warmer-weather wardrobe.  If your outlook on metallics is still a bit conservative, try incorporating metallic accessories (those Marc Jacobs slides? “Ugly” and metallic = perfection).

Let Me Mule It Over

Mules
1. Zara Shiny Leather High Heel Mules // 2. Jenni Kayne Perforated Pointed Toe Mules // 3. Aldo Acaren Heeled Mule Shoes // 4. Alexander Wang Glossed-Leather Mules // 5. Vince Camuto Peep Toe Platform Mule Sandals // 6. Topshop Waltz Perforated Mules

Few things make a gal happier than slipping into a fabulous new pair of shoes (and I mean FEW).  This Spring, the hottest trend in footwear are these half-heel-half-clog, all-around perfect mules.  Grab a pair that is perforated or that has cut-outs and you’ll have a brand new go-to shoe for every possible outfit!

Fall 2014’s Hottest Colors

While I take a break from blogging about individual shows from New York’s Fashion Week, I still want to focus on the details of it!  A week before all of the shows started, Pantone announced their choices for the most popular colors for the Fall 2014 season.  So, did designers oblige by these hues or did they do as designers often do, and go in their own direction?  Let’s see if these colors trended throughout the shows of NYFW Fall 2014.

Though Misted Yellow was an apparent no-show in the Fall shows (even with all of the pastel), maybe it will have better luck come Spring Fashion week!

My Take On NYFW… So Far Part II

Many trends come and go, leaving us “remembering when” we wore that crazy style last season.  However, some things are better left unchanged.  Fashion designers have unanimously decided that the crop top isn’t broke so they won’t fix it. Yes, it’s here to stay… at least for another season.  While it may make some cringe thinking that we still have to work those abs at the gym for another season, others who have enjoyed the midriff baring style will be happy seeing it on the runway during NYFW this season.  See some of the MANY (okay, almost ALL) crop top variations from designers this upcoming spring.

Don’t Forget the Basics for Spring ’13

While most may think of an abundance of colors for the Spring months, Alexander Wang decided to give colors the season off and stuck with basic blacks, whites, grays and creams.  However, there really is nothing basic about his collection – with leather accents, major cut-outs (including some seriously intense cutout, strappy shoes), zippers and mega-sexy high slits and low V cuts, the designer has got us begging Mother Nature to bring on the warm weather to wear these pieces!  See some of the looks below, enjoy!
