One of my favorite bloggers along with one of my favorite stores have teamed up to create an exclusive collection together – coincidence? I think not!
Emily Schuman of Cupcakes & Cashmere has created a capsule collection with Club Monaco, mixing girly with simplicity and sophistication. These pieces can be worn any where from the office to a Saturday stroll around the city to a nice dinner-date night. Pastels rule this collection with leather thrown in not to rough up the pieces but to make them even more clean and structured. My favorites from the collection are the Georgia dress and the Delaine Moto Jacket (because who WOULDN’T want a pale pink leather jacket?). See the full collection here.
When I first starting seeing Birkenstocks popping up on some of the most fashionable, I was shocked! These simple, old-school sandals were making a comeback? It couldn’t be. They are ugly! I’m used to seeing them on dads who have no sense of style whatsoever. What was going on in the fashion world? Who lost their mind and set off this ugly trend? BUT then —- I started seeing how Birkenstocks were being worn and what they were being paired with. In a way, they almost brought an entire ensemble together in a comfy and minimalist way. (And let’s be honest, the highest of fashion trends are usually a bit “ugly” so it’s obvious this footwear was bound to pop up sooner or later.)
Will I actually end up trying this trend? Let’s just say it’s going to take a lot to pry my gladiator sandals out of my hands and switch over to these
grandpa simple shoes. What are your thoughts on Birkenstocks making a comeback?
Many think that summer is all about vibrant colors, popping prints and glowing ensembles in general. However, we can’t forget about the old-faithful color combo – black and white! Yes, this can be done in the summer months and can look put-together and cool (even in sweltering temps). All you need is a few shorter hems and some breezy material and you’ve got yourself a classic summer look. Take a look at the inspiration below for fabulous summertime blacks and whites!
I have to admit, when I first heard/saw/read about this whole “pajama” inspired style, I was totally skeptical. There is nothing that disgraces the human race more than seeing someone walking around IN PUBLIC while still wearing their pajamas. Honestly people, have some dignity! Throw on some jeans!
However, I saw this trend growing quickly and realized that there was a way to make this just-rolled-out-of-bed look into a totally fashionable and acceptable ensemble. So, I went out to H&M and purchased a pair of white and gray, vertically and slanted-striped pants with a zipper bottom. Firstly, I was impressed by the fit – I’m 5’1″ and finding a pair of pants that don’t drag inches behind me is a rarity. Secondly, OMG were these not the most comfortable pants in the world? Yes, they were. Finally, the slouchy fit wasn’t all that terrible due to the fact that the zippers at the bottom brought the pants into a skinnier fit on the bottom. But totally not Justin Bieber and his latest obsession with M.C. Hammer harem pants.
I chose to pair them with a longer white tee, my cute BCBG jellies and threw on a colorful necklace to add some color. It was by far the most comfortable day of work and walking around I have ever had and I will absolutely be purchasing more of this style of pants!

There is one fashion issue we all run into every now and again, and that’s how to wear coveted pieces from season to season. One piece that can survive the cold months of winter right through the sweltering summer days is the denim shirt. Denim, chambray, jean – call it what you want but also wear it with whatever you want! The denim trend has caught on like fire in recent years and it continues to hold strong with so many favoring the denim shirt. Styling it has become a favorite past time of mine and let’s face it, one can never have too many of these shirts. Pair it with a statement necklace and printed skinnies & heels – you’ll look like you walked out of the latest J.Crew catalog. Below are some ways you can change it up with chambray!
Denim shirt underneath a comfy sweater + skinnies + booties = winter
Denim shirt tucked into a striped skirt + military-inspired vest + flats = spring
Denim shirt adorned with some statement necklaces + pop of color skirt + nude heels = summer
Denim shirt underneath knit sweater + skinnies + booties = fall
I can’t think of a punchier, perkier or more perfect color for spring than coral. It’s the just-right mix of pastel and bright, depending on the hue you choose. It compliments every skin color. It also goes with every color of the rainbow – so color and outfit combos are truly endless! Coral is also a perfect color to wear into the hot summer months. But for now, we will just use it as a summer buffer to wear during the spring months. The above look is from J. Crew and it inspired me to scour sites for everything coral to add to my closet.

Just when I realized I’m in need of a great tote bag, Kate Spade has released some fantastically witty totes. How can a tote be witty, you ask? The bags quote wise-cracking poet and writer, Dorothy Parker.
Throw in the fact that the bags are completely on trend with the bright color-blocking and not only are you fabulously witty and quotable, but also perfectly fashionable. What more could one want? Well, besides maybe a beach day that would require said bag to carry around all summer-time essentials. But that would just be selfish.
Even though I am currently looking out my window to see snow falling, it will not stop me from dreaming of summer days by the pool and on the beach. So what automatically comes to mind? Swimwear, of course! While Madewell is much better known for it’s denim and preppy clothing, they have incorporated the designs of Mara Hoffman into their swimwear this season. Bright prints with retro yet up-to-date cuts, there is something for every girl! Check out some of my favorites below!

While we are still experiencing the chilliest of days, it’s not too early to look forward to exotic, sunny vacations and everyone’s favorite time of the year – summer! These upcoming warmer months have lots to offer, especially new colors and trends to try out. One of those colors is tangerine and it is popping up all over our accessories and extra add-ons. Clutches and bags, heels and jackets are all fruitfully colored and will brighten up any room as soon as you walk in wearing this new color of the moment! Enjoy some of my favorite looks below.

For most people, a new season means new weather, different sports, or seeing a variety of new foliage come out. However, for fashionistas a new season means: NEW CLOTHES, ACCESSORIES, LOOKS AND TRENDS! But one thing that can be a struggle is trying to incorporate our not-so-inexpensive pieces from last season into the new season. The earth tone trend is one that can easily achieve that. What was the safari trend in the summer is now the military trend in the fall. Here are some of my favorite “earth tone neutral” looks from all seasons.
