Grammy’s 2015 Best Dressed

As I was watching the Grammy’s Red Carpet last night, I was thinking there would be ZERO best dressed choices.  I mean, you’ve got to agree with me – there were so many AWFUL looks that I believe the best dressed stood out even more. Before I get to my best dressed ladies, I have to say I’m LOVING the all-natural makeup look.  For real – Nicki Minaj, Chrissy Teigen, Beyonce and Rihanna (just to name a few stand-outs) looked flawless in their no-makeup makeup look.  Fresh faced and simple hair is going to be a huge trend this year and I’m soooo okay with it – low maintenance = less getting ready time!

Anyways, on to the best ensembles of the night:

Jessie J in Ralph and Russo.  At first, I hated/loathed the whole sheer dress with granny panties showing, but it has definitely grown on me.  Loving this look!

Chrissy Teigen in Gucci.  So sexy, yet also tasteful.  I love the bright white paired with natural mermaid waves.

Meghan Trainor in Galia Lahav.  See Jessie J – you get the jist.

Katy Perry in Zuhair Murad.  Coming from someone who usually goes for shock-factor (and not in a good way), I actually loved this different look for her!  Every detail from her lavender hair to her simple strap heels.

Taylor Swift in Elie Saab.  No other explanation needed. ❤

Beyonce, aka Queen Bey in Proenza Schouler.  Bow down. She truly is.. flawless. (Had to)

The jury is still out on…….

Rihanna in Giambattista Valli.  This is SO Giambattista Valli to a T, but somehow, it never translates on the red carpet (remember the disaster that was Lena Dunham at the Emmy’s last year?).  Looking at all the factors, I should love this – my favorite color, big and poufy with some embellishment.  But… just… I don’t know.  The verdict is still out….

Met Gala Fashion Round-Up

This year’s Met Gala was jam-packed (and I mean that!  Did you see the size of some of those gowns?!) with glitz, glam, a little skin and a whole lot of tulle!  The theme was “White Tie and Diamonds” and the event honored designer, Charles James with an exhibit “Beyond Fashion.”  Charles James is known for ballroom gowns and has come to be recognized as the first designer to dabble in couture fashion.

Many of the women who attended this year’s Met Gala took Charles James’ inspiration quite literally and looked like they stepped right out of the 1950s with their ensembles.  Others well, they took on their own approach to the theme. Here are some of the trending styles that appeared on the red-carpet with my absolute favorites at the end.  ENJOY!

Over-The-Top Embellishment: Beyonce in Givenchy, Kristen Stewart in Chanel Lupita Nyong’o in Prada and Leighton Meester in Emilio Pucci.

Loving Him Was Red

Not only is one of my favorite singer’s (Taylor Swift) new songs titled “Red,” but it is also a very popular color to be wearing this season.  The fiery, fierce shade is bold enough to make a statement but you can also use it as a pop of color to pull together an outfit.  Red is great to wear around the holiday’s but I totally want to make it a more prominent color in my closet all year round!

Here are some great pieces I know I’ll be shopping for.  Oh, and one great thing about red – it goes with literally every color!  How much easier can you make this trend?

Valentino Blouse / Alice + Olivia Peplum Dress / Donna Karan Riding Jacket

And these beauties – Valentino Studded Pumps (to die for!)

And just to celebrate this vibrant hue just a little more – here is Ms. Swift’s new song.
