Wedding Season Events

With so many celebrations that follow up to the big day, each one calls for a different outfit!  From the bridal shower to the big bachelorette bash to the rehearsal dinner – being part of  a wedding party calls for quite a few clothing options.  However, looking back on a wedding “event schedule” my go-to choice has been short dresses that were perfectly appropriate for each separate occasion.

The Bridal Shower – the bride requested that all her lovely ‘maids wear her wedding colors (red/orange).  I picked this lovely simple coral number at Marshalls!  Necklace – J. Crew Factory

The Bachelorette Party – Since the bachelorette party was to be in Atlantic City, dancing the night away, I opted for a sassier dress -this sheer paneled black fit-and-flare Topshop piece.  I thought it would be a bit difficult to wear with certain things showing or popping out when I didn’t want (!!!) but it stayed perfectly all night and was ideal for a last fling before a ring!

The Rehearsal Dinner – To celebrate the last night before the couple makes it official, I opted for a classy, slightly preppy pastel yellow fit-and-flare from Nordstrom.  The rehearsal took place in a church and the dinner was at the groom’s old college club (kind of like a fraternity but much nicer – so awesome!).

Let Me Mule It Over

Mules
1. Zara Shiny Leather High Heel Mules // 2. Jenni Kayne Perforated Pointed Toe Mules // 3. Aldo Acaren Heeled Mule Shoes // 4. Alexander Wang Glossed-Leather Mules // 5. Vince Camuto Peep Toe Platform Mule Sandals // 6. Topshop Waltz Perforated Mules

Few things make a gal happier than slipping into a fabulous new pair of shoes (and I mean FEW).  This Spring, the hottest trend in footwear are these half-heel-half-clog, all-around perfect mules.  Grab a pair that is perforated or that has cut-outs and you’ll have a brand new go-to shoe for every possible outfit!

Get Cozy!

Although we can’t stop the blustery, cold weather from coming, we can bundle up and keep warm this winter with chunky knits.  Soft and cozy is totally in this season – just look at Pinterest during the time of year, if I see that big, white chunky knit blanket one more time I’m going to have to buy it!  Anyway, chunky knits are not just for wearing in the coldest of snowstorms, they are diverse enough that you can dress them up yet still feel that same warm comfort as you do when you’re sitting in front of the fireplace with some hot chocolate.  Choose one piece of your wardrobe and replace it with a knit – because wearing a full outfit of knit will just make you look like crocheting is your one and only hobby.

Not Your Typical Tweed

I tend to shy away from many menswear-inspired trends because I am such a girly-girl ( I know, I hate me too).  But one piece of fabric that has been taken from our lovely male friends’ closets that can totally be worn by us gals is tweed!  I love this trend because tweed is such a polished, chic look and yet it adds a little masculinity and structured to an otherwise average feminine outfit.  Not to mention you totally Chanel-ify your outfit with a little tweed (hello, signature Chanel tweed jacket).  Not to mention, the textured material will keep you warm during the cold months to come!  Below are some greatly styled outfits featuring tweed. Enjoy!

Here are some outfit ideas by me!

Pretty in Peplum!

A major flare has hit the fashion world and it’s a wonder why it’s taken so long for PEPLUM to make it big!  Peplum looks impressively chic and professional for the office or fun and flirty for a night out. The little bit of extra ruffle around the waist is so flattering, even though hearing those five words “extra ruffle around the waist” would make most women cringe.   Figure-flattering and a great sophisticated update to the normal pencil skirt or plain shell top, peplum has made a strong statement to women’s clothing and will probably be yelling that statement loud and clear for a few more seasons (at least!) to come.

No Vampires for this Trueblood

Although I love me some Sookie, Bill and Eric – the new color for fall is most likely not appearing on any Bon Temps residents on TrueBlood.  Instead the deep, dark crimson red – dubbed “oxblood” in the fashion world – has taken over pages of magazines and is recurrently displayed on models walking down the fall runways.  Oxblood is a fab color for everyone and will definitely be a staple in your closet this fall and winter.  This is a great trend because you can take it to any extremity that you want – from a full on oxblood head-to-toe look or something as simple as some oxblood nail polish or lipstick.  See some of my picks below as well as some oxblood looks. Enjoy!
